‘CREATURES’ is on view at San Art through Saturday, April 25. This upcoming weekend, April 19, we are hosting ‘SOUND SCAPE,’ a celebration of the show featuring improved musical performances by John Davis of Folk Implosion and Catherine Mcrae on the violin.
John Davis is an educator, organizer and musician who started out in the lo-fi home taping scene of the early 1990's and co-founded the band Folk Implosion in 1993. While most of his work focuses on songs with lyrics, his contribution to this event will be informed by his trilogy of instrumental albums Gnawing on the Bone, We'll Teach Them How to Privatize and Outside a Small City.
Catherine McRae is a classically trained violinist, composer and improviser, who uses pedals and loopers to create sonic landscapes that veer in and out of noise; layering sound into densely packed sediment and excavating the melody from within.
